This past NYFW while heading to a show I spent some time in front of Lincoln Center to check out some of the crazy street wear looks that never fail to pop up. During the few FREEZING minutes (it was about 15 degrees that day) I saw a guy walk back and fourth about four times to try and catch a snap from a photographer. He was dressed very well, head to toe in Louis Vuitton, but had a suit on with his coat over his shoulder. IT WAS 15 DEGREES. I would never knock anyone who desires to been photographed, but dude, put your coat on! It’s not so much about taking a runway look straight to the street, it’s about how all of this designer gear looks and how applicable it is in the real world. We want to see how you can put your own personal twist on a piece that you may make look better than it did on the runway. Not one picture was taken of him. Stop trying so hard! End rant/
This is going to be our final part to “What We Wear” F/w14, mainly because no one wants to see six parts of anything. I blame the internet for the loss of attention spans. I also blame the internet for the HUGE wave of lux sweatpants that have been hitting the runway. Remember when wearing sweats meant you were either running to the corner store to grab a bag of chips or a father who lost interest in his appearance all together. We fully accept and love it though. Most jobs are done sitting in front of a computer now-a-days, so it makes sense fashion follows suit of a more laid back lifestyle.
Onto the gear.
Sacai Fall/Winter 2014/15

Sacai was on another level when it came to their layering. What it looks like we have here is a Anorak layered under a long cardigan layered under a vest. Brilliant exercise in layering if you ask me. You’ve got three fairly heavy layers without giving the look of bulk.

We are now in in the college of layering because it has now been to a crazy frat party and those drugs have certainly had an affect on the choice of clothing. We totally mean that in the best way possible. The bomber OVER the top coat?! This is nuts (again, in the best way possible).
APC x Kanye Fall/Winter 2014/15

A lot of people are really quick to blow off Ye, but looking past all the bull, the man has a talented eye for design. We have a really great look that is completely ready to wear and WILL be duplicated next winter.

Another look from APC and Ye that we really think has been a long time coming. Straight coke-white winter gear. We love it. Turning the old, no white after labor day, rule on its head. A very clean and simple silhouette that will definitely be lusted over.
Miharayasuhiro Fall/Winter 2014/15

Oh hey look, more layering! But what we really like about this look is the denim. Great use of a denim goes a long way to bring depth to a look. But did we bring up the layering. If you look closely there is a denim bomber layered under that denim bomber which hides the long hoodie. We really can’t wait to see designers getting creative with this layering stuff. (sarcasm)

I’m going to try my hardest not to bring up layering here but when you layer leather under ANYTHING it looks amazingly badass. Besides that we really dig the 2-tone boots and color blocked denim. Really great look all around.

Phew! No layering here. Just a really great looking olive coat with just the right amount of military influence.
Viktor & Rolf Fall/Winter 2014/15

We really enjoyed the texture on this grey suit and the sporty edge brought on by the hiking sneakers. A look you can really get a away with in both business and casual settings.
Paul Smith Fall/Winter 2014/15

Two reasons why we enjoy this look. The generous amount of carpets on the runway that accents the printed sneakers and the beautiful navy top coat with musical notes woven in.

Again beautiful carpeting, BUT we wanted to highlight another pair of leather pants, which we really are glad is not dying. The real hit here is the soft plum jacket, that, without the slightly hippy looking model, would complete this look to be one of my favorites. Leather and purple?!? Very well done Paul Smith!

Lastly this patterned hooded top coat is the dopest, most detailed piece we’ve seen in a long time. So killer!
Christophe Lemaire Fall/Winter 2014/15

Again, just like many designers, we love the inclusion of white pants for fall/winter looks, and with the addition of a beautiful camel top coat and chelsea boots we want to wear this NOW.
Saint Laurent Fall/Winter 2014/15

Per usual, a lot of great garments from SL so when we tell you to look out for this plaid coat with shoulder detail, LOOK OUT FOR IT.

Another beautiful coat for Saint Laurent in the perfect shade of olive.
Bespoken Fall/Winter 2014/15

Bringing things down to a very classic level from Bespoken with great fit all around. We are also seeing a lot of clean, yet rugged high top boots for next winter. Hmmm.
Robert Geller Fall/Winter 2014/15

I know you all must be tired of the word “layering” but as you can see there is a massive amount of it on fall/winter runways. At the end of the day it’s a great way to stay warm without looking like a big round fatty. Besides that we want more info on the blue jacket w/ waistband that is layered so nicely under the topcoat.
Public School Fall/Winter 2014/15

Since Public School has hit the big time they have really been consistent with creating their own classics including this jacket that is sure to be sold out everywhere as soon as them polar vortex’s come back around next year.

Brilliant color and detail on this leather moto jacket. Not sure what the extra shoulder pieces are for but “fashion”!
Tim Coppens Fall/Winter 2014/15

No layers, just a really proper top coat in an oatmeal grey-ish shade with leather arm hole detail. Also, check out the TC x Common Projects high top sneaker collab. Nice!

This jacket is nothing I could ever pull off, but TC sure has gone to many lengths (GET IT!) to create what in some opinions is a wearable sleeping bag. Best damn sleeping bag I’ve ever seen.
Mark McNairy Fall/Winter 2014/15

I think Mark McNairy is a good designer to end our little collection of looks. He certainly has a, I don’t care what you think, attitude when it comes to designing pieces and my favorite example of this is the full on camouflage fur. Pretty ballzy but since it’s McNairy it works!
Well that just about does it for me! I am really excited about the new trends that will come with all of this new flavor for next winter. Until then what’s up with some TROPICAL vortex’s swinging up our way?!
