Robert Geller S/S 2015

As the first weekend of NYFW has almost come to an end, I wanted to post a VERY exciting show that happened saturday night. As you can see, and I repetitively say, I don’t post much on here. So when I do, I really make sure it’s something special or unique.

Robert Geller really brought some major heat for the coming S/S 2015 season. We are now consistently seeing layering and reverse-layering in designer collections, so with anything, the basics of layering have been mastered and now brands must step up to remain relevant. Robert Geller, in my opinion, after this show and collection is leading the way into the next level of layering. Great color palettes that are soft, yet masculine hints towards chic streetwear. Streetwear is becoming more and more relevant in high fashion and RG did a great job displaying this with amazing texture. The simple elongated shirts come in the perfect shades and length. Pairing those shirts with tonal lightweight bombers, blazers, and long coats along with luxury sweats with a high break (lets just make sure they aren’t high enough to be mistaken for capri’s PLEASE) are so essential! It’s pretty crazy to see sweatpants on the runway, but we really love the casual/streetwear side that is coming out of the fashion houses.

My recommendation. Study these looks. Duplicate next spring. Win.

Hender Scheme Jordan IV Excellence

As you can see, I rarely post on this blog site, as our other platforms like Instagram and Facebook have taken over. BUT when I do it’s to either announce something big or share something that is beautiful and inspiring. These Hender Scheme “Air Jordan IV” is one example of the latter. The classic silhouette has always been a favorite but Hender really took this to his upper level of expertise and brilliance with an all leather, handmade homage to the shoe. You can expect this in extremely limited quantity around the world and a hefty price tag. Well worth any price set in our opinion.

True Driving Spring / Summer 2014 Video Lookbook

After about 8 months of learning, waiting, trial-and-error, sampling, searching, and searching some more, we have a final product to present to our followers. It has been personal dreams for every team member to create a fashion line, and though it has been a very long process, I’d like to introduce our S/S 2014 Menswear line look book video. This project was very special to us, as we wanted to represent what we love and what our standards are. We set our bar very high, so we are confident that each and every garment will fit perfectly as well as comfortably. What made this even more challenging, but also necessary, is creating each piece in New York City. The entire team has lived and worked in/around NYC so the influence and standard was very high. For us, a garment made in NYC gives it an authenticity to back the product, and that was very important to us. In fact, our first line is inspired by living in NYC as motoring enthusiasts and fans of fashion. Please take a moment to enjoy our Look Book video as well as visit our webstore TrueDriving.co  . Before making any purchase you can be confident that a ton of passion and quality went into each and every piece.

What We Wear pt. 5

Posted by truedrivingdale on March 6, 2014
Posted in: Uncategorized. Tagged: apc, bespoken, christpohe lemaire, fall, fashion, kanye west, mark mcnairy, menswear, miharayasuhiro, paul smith, public school, runway, sacai, saint laurent, tim coppens, viktor & rolf, winter. Leave a comment

This past NYFW while heading to a show I spent some time in front of Lincoln Center to check out some of the crazy street wear looks that never fail to pop up. During the few FREEZING minutes (it was about 15 degrees that day) I saw a guy walk back and fourth about four times to try and catch a snap from a photographer. He was dressed very well, head to toe in Louis Vuitton,  but had a suit on with his coat over his shoulder. IT WAS 15 DEGREES. I would never knock anyone who desires to been photographed, but dude, put your coat on! It’s not so much about taking a runway look straight to the street, it’s about how all of this designer gear looks and how applicable it is in the real world. We want to see how you can put your own personal twist on a piece that you may make look better than it did on the runway. Not one picture was taken of him. Stop trying so hard! End rant/

This is going to be our final part to “What We Wear” F/w14, mainly because no one wants to see six parts of anything. I blame the internet for the loss of attention spans. I also blame the internet for the HUGE wave of lux sweatpants that have been hitting the runway. Remember when wearing sweats meant you were either running to the corner store to grab a bag of chips or a father who lost interest in his appearance all together. We fully accept and love it though. Most jobs are done sitting in front of a computer now-a-days, so it makes sense fashion follows suit of a more laid back lifestyle.

Onto the gear.

Sacai Fall/Winter 2014/15

Sacai_008_1366.683x1024

Sacai was on another level when it came to their layering. What it looks like we have here is a Anorak layered under a long cardigan layered under a vest. Brilliant exercise in layering if you ask me. You’ve got three fairly heavy layers without giving the look of bulk.

Sacai_005_1366.683x1024

We are now in in the college of layering because it has now been to a crazy frat party and those drugs have certainly had an affect on the choice of clothing. We totally mean that in the best way possible. The bomber OVER the top coat?! This is nuts (again, in the best way possible).

APC x Kanye Fall/Winter 2014/15

APC_015_1366.450x675

A lot of people are really quick to blow off Ye, but looking past all the bull, the man has a talented eye for design. We have a really great look that is completely ready to wear and WILL be duplicated next winter.

APC_013_1366.450x675

Another look from APC and Ye that we really think has been a long time coming. Straight coke-white winter gear. We love it. Turning the old, no white after labor day, rule on its head. A very clean and simple silhouette that will definitely be lusted over.

Miharayasuhiro Fall/Winter 2014/15

Miharayasuhiro_005_1366.683x1024

Oh hey look, more layering! But what we really like about this look is the denim. Great use of a denim goes a long way to bring depth to a look. But did we bring up the layering. If you look closely there is a denim bomber layered under that denim bomber which hides the long hoodie. We really can’t wait to see designers getting creative with this layering stuff. (sarcasm)

Miharayasuhiro_007_1366.683x1024

I’m going to try my hardest not to bring up layering here but when you layer leather under ANYTHING it looks amazingly badass. Besides that we really dig the 2-tone boots and color blocked denim. Really great look all around.

Miharayasuhiro_016_1366.683x1024

Phew! No layering here. Just a really great looking olive coat with just the right amount of military influence.

Viktor & Rolf Fall/Winter 2014/15

Viktor_Rolf_001_1366.683x1024

We really enjoyed the texture on this grey suit and the sporty edge brought on by the hiking sneakers. A look you can really get a away with in both business and casual settings.

Paul Smith Fall/Winter 2014/15

YVL_1953.683x1024

Two reasons why we enjoy this look. The generous amount of carpets on the runway that accents the printed sneakers and the beautiful navy top coat with musical notes woven in.

YVL_2292.683x1024

Again beautiful carpeting, BUT we wanted to highlight another pair of leather pants, which we really are glad is not dying. The real hit here is the soft plum jacket, that,  without the slightly hippy looking model, would complete this look to be one of my favorites. Leather and purple?!? Very well done Paul Smith!

YVL_2431.683x1024

Lastly this patterned hooded top coat is the dopest, most detailed piece we’ve seen in a long time. So killer!

Christophe Lemaire Fall/Winter 2014/15

Lemaire_001_1366.683x1024

Again, just like many designers, we love the inclusion of white pants for fall/winter looks, and with the addition of a beautiful camel top coat and chelsea boots we want to wear this NOW.

Saint Laurent Fall/Winter 2014/15

_ON_0187.683x1024

Per usual, a lot of great garments from SL so when we tell you to look out for this plaid coat with shoulder detail, LOOK OUT FOR IT.

_ON_0322.683x1024

Another beautiful coat for Saint Laurent in the perfect shade of olive.

Bespoken Fall/Winter 2014/15

Bespoken_019_1366.683x1024

Bringing things down to a very classic level from Bespoken with great fit all around. We are also seeing a lot of clean, yet rugged high top boots for next winter. Hmmm.

Robert Geller Fall/Winter 2014/15

_LKV8129.683x1024

I know you all must be tired of the word “layering” but as you can see there is a massive amount of it on fall/winter runways. At the end of the day it’s a great way to stay warm without looking like a big round fatty. Besides that we want more info on the blue jacket w/ waistband that is layered so nicely under the topcoat.

Public School Fall/Winter 2014/15

_ON_0053.683x1024

Since Public School has hit the big time they have really been consistent with creating their own classics including this jacket that is sure to be sold out everywhere as soon as them polar vortex’s come back around next year.

_ON_0287.683x1024

Brilliant color and detail on this leather moto jacket. Not sure what the extra shoulder pieces are for but “fashion”!

Tim Coppens Fall/Winter 2014/15

KIM_1626.683x1024

No layers, just a really proper top coat in an oatmeal grey-ish shade with leather arm hole detail. Also, check out the TC x Common Projects high top sneaker collab. Nice!

KIM_1752.683x1024

This jacket is nothing I could ever pull off, but TC sure has gone to many lengths (GET IT!) to create what in some opinions is a wearable sleeping bag. Best damn sleeping bag I’ve ever seen.

Mark McNairy Fall/Winter 2014/15

_LKV0958.683x1024

I think Mark McNairy is a good designer to end our little collection of looks. He certainly has a, I don’t care what you think, attitude when it comes to designing pieces and my favorite example of this is the full on camouflage fur. Pretty ballzy but since it’s McNairy it works!

Well that just about does it for me! I am really excited about the new trends that will come with all of this new flavor for next winter. Until then what’s up with some TROPICAL vortex’s swinging up our way?!

What We Wear pt. 4

BACK after a short break, with a fresh set of eyes going through many runway shows, and making sure I don’t pick out any boring pieces. It’s all about the wearable fashion. We love seeing the conceptual fashion, but what we love to do is actually be able to wear what we see on the runway with our own personal twist.

Belstaff Fall/Winter 2014/15

Belstaff_003_1366.450x675

We usually love everything Belstaff has to offer so it was actually harder to choose only two rather than wanting to rock every damn thing they offer. We have a massive infatuation with the leather (possibly waxed cotton) pants with cargo pockets to hold all of the girls numbers you’ll be gathering because you’ll look like a rock star/biker/han solo. Which is a pretty unattainable combination in any other kinds of pants.

Belstaff_006_1366.450x675

Again, like the last look, this look is absolutely brilliant, classic and stylish at the same time. Rich brown belted leather jacket is killer and mixed with the dark cargo pants and turtleneck you will have a look your friends will have a hard time 1-upping.

Valentino Fall/Winter 2014/15

_ARC0026.450x675

Valentino has always been consistent with creating “new” classic pieces. This camel top coat is a really killer piece with dark green neck detail that means you can wear this as a cape which only real fashionisto’s could pull off previously. Thank you Valentino.

_ARC0052.450x675

On the subject of coats, check out this, very well put together, patterned top coat.

_ARC0408.450x675

One HUGE reason we love Valentino is that they refuse to let camouflage die! It’s pretty impressive to see almost every piece of this look covered in camo, but still doesn’t feel overwhelming. Or maybe that’s just us. Did we mention we love camo?!

3.1 Phillip Lim Fall/Winter 2014/15

_ARC0080.450x675

Leather on leather. End of story. NEXT!

_ARC0114.450x675

Beautiful layering here with a more clean cut look that you may be able to get away with wearing to work. The denim adds the dark texture that makes this look a win is every aspect. Darks on darks!

Alexander Wang Fall/Winter 2014/15

AlexanderWang_004_1366.450x675

We weren’t massively into this look but the leather top coat is definitely something to lust over. What really caught our eye from AW was the generous amount of break that wen’t all the way up to the knee. Certainly a different angle from what we are used to seeing on recent runways, the no-break/sock flashing pants.

Balmain Fall/Winter 2014/15

Balmain_011_1366.450x675

Balmain is easily one of our all time favorite menswear brands. Here we have a healthy serving of olives and greens with a military influence from top to bottom. We love that Balmain brought back the cargo pockets and also refuses to kill off camouflage . Awesome layering, perfect fit, and a great contrast with the leopard print chelsea boots.

Balmain_015_1366.450x675

MORE OLIVE GREEN. Of course, we are putting aside a piggy bank only for Balmain garments. This coat hits on every single level.

Balmain_035_1366.450x675

OF COURSE we had to point out the camo biker jacket with MASSIVE patches to make this possibly the most bad ass jacket ever created. Prepare to have many “war stories” ready for the ladies. The olive green leather pants puts this look over the freakin top. Did we mention we love Balmain?

Berluti Fall/Winter 2014/15

_UMB0136.450x675

Leave it up to Berluti to created the very masculine color palette of browns and maroons. This adds at least ten years of maturity, and the jacket will be the subject of all conversation. Dress smart.

_UMB0447.450x675

I have to be honest here, I’m not quite sure what attracts us to this particular 3-piece suit. It certainly gives new life and meaning to the pinstripe suit, with a great slim fit, vest and casual finish with the un-buttoned shirt. We are beginning to see why we like this so much.

Dior Homme Fall/Winter 2014/15

DIO_0252.450x675

We are absolute suckers for layered denim, which here gives such a unique pop to an otherwise bland suit.

DIO_0267.450x675

Again, Dior gives us no choice but to drool over the layered denim vest underneath a beautiful shearling bomber. This is for the friday night, stepping from the office, onto a motorcycle, and joining your friends for a long awaited weekend ride.

Thanks for reading.

No small talk to open this one, cutting right to the chase. SO MANY more designers to cover.

Missoni Fall/Winter 2014/15

MIS_1854.450x675

To be honest, there is so much to love from Missoni with such warm knits that become instant classics each season. But what we really loved from Missoni is this knit throw blanket!!! SO MANY patterns and colors, we can only imagine how long it took to construct much a masterpiece. Take my money! We have to figure out how to somehow replace a coat with this next winter.

Philipp Plein Fall/Winter 2014/15

YVL_5980.450x675

I hadn’t heard of Philipp Plein before checking out this season, but I really enjoyed the generous amounts of leather. I do honestly think the cowboy theme has been done and done to death but we do applaud any shot at re-interpreting it in their own way. The soft black snake leather jacket is so pimp.

YVL_6135.450x675

Really nice black leather paneled coat with shoulder detail. Again, a bunch of really good looking leather all around from Philipp Plein.

Andrea Pompilio Fall/Winter 2014/15

CG5Q0249.450x675

Some really great layering going on at Andrea Pompilio with the red turtleneck layered underneath the white coat, underneath the padded vest, underneath the navy cropped jacket, underneath…..you get it. You get a ton of warmth without looking like a eskimo.

Etro Fall/Winter 2014/15

_UMB6941.450x675

Usually, we try and stay away from looks that aren’t “ready to wear” in our eyes. But take each piece here on its own and you really have really great paisley print clothing. Slim fit (not for everyone) is spot on and that overcoat is brilliant in every way shape and form!

Canali Fall/Winter 2014/15

_ARC0369.450x675

Beautiful color palette from Canali that combines warm winter darks with a soft blue jacket with great fit and accessories to bring a look together that is far from boring.

Giorgio Armani Fall/Winter 2014/15

_ARC0141.450x675

ALL NAVY ERRTHANG from Armani, which is my favorite color if anyone is curious. Lovely knitting on the blazer and DB vest. Here Armani tells us not to be afraid to monotone it out every once and a while, just remember to utilize textures to add depth to your look.

_ARC0209.450x675

On the subject of texture, check out this cropped DB leather jacket. I love the stitching, which doesn’t follow any symmetrical lines, it flows with the natural lines created when the jacket is worn. Very well thought out!

Phew, we’ve got a ton left, but I’m going to end part 3 here. Thanks for reading!

What We Wear pt.2

Posted in: Uncategorized. Tagged: bags, biker jacket, blue suede shoes, bomber brown, bottega veneta, burberry prorsum, calvin klein, designer, e tautz, fashion, fashion week, helmet, leather, menswear, neil barrett, runway, shearling, sweatpants, throw blanket, top coat, versace. Leave a comment

I wanted to jump right into part 2 of our “What We Wear” series, covering all of our favorite runway shows for the coming Fall/Winter 2014/15 collections. So far we’ve been seeing a ton of reverse layering, leather, and fur is back in a HUGE way.  It’s pretty interesting to see older, somewhat overdone looks given an entirely new and modern approach to current trends.

E. Tautz Fall/Winter 2014/15

_ARC0145.450x675

I REALLY am digging the texture and pattern of this large overcoat. For a piece so big, it doesn’t seem overbearing at all. The  monaco/navy-ish blue color is a perfect accent for this look. Do I spot some blue suede shoes?!

_ARC0413.450x675

Lets get this straight, we would never be caught wearing this cropped biker, but it reminds us of the back in the day, logo all over, varsity jackets we used to wear in the hood, 5 sizes too big. Besides the ghetto reference, we really enjoy the amount of detail put into this jacket. Conversation piece for sure!

Burberry Prorsum Fall/Winter 2014/15

_ARC0178.450x675

KILLER shearling bomber from Burberry, from the caramel shell to the slight drop shoulder and chest detail, we are going to see a lot of this next winter. Lets not forget the beautiful assortment of bags with enormous amount of detail and beautiful prints.

_ARC0599.450x675

We aren’t crazy about this look but do love the lux mixture of patterns and super warm-looking throw blanket. And hey, WE WANT ALL THE BAGS.

Versace Fall/Winter 2014/15

_ARC0404.450x675

Versace usually has us running for the hills and rappers running to their bank accounts, but the coming fall/winter collection is a welcome surprise with tons of leather, details and waxed garments added to their usual frills and bright accents. The helmets put us over the edge of “like” to “love” in addition to the leather(possible waxed cotton) jacket and jeans with black detail. A very subtle and slim look that screams, “I’m late to work, where’s my motorcycle?”

_ARC0392.450x675

Yet another look that won us other with the addition of the motorcycle helmet to the beautiful bomber jacket and deep blue detailed jean.

_ARC0417.450x675

This look won us over because the denim looks very fun and brings us back to better times in the 90’s(although we pre-caution anyone who thinks they’ll be able to pull off those jeans), in addition to the motorcycle embroidered onto the sweatshirt.

Neil Barrett Fall/Winter 2014/15

YVL_5407.450x675

Neil Barrett had a ton of classics to choose from, but this leather jacket IS SO CRAZYY! The deep brown fading into a cognac suede top coat with waist belt detail is a piece that makes us re-do our finances. I wonder if we can start a second 401k to fund this? Hmmm

Bottega Veneta Fall/Winter 2014/15

_ARC0139.450x675

The color palette is what really caught our eye on this particular look. The leather jacket is killer and all, but pulling off that high waist ribbing without looking like a female will be seriously hard for anyone under 6 foot, unless you possess swag like this guy that can pull off lux sweatpants equally well. ps- LUX SWEATPANTS ARE THE NEXT DRESS PANTS. smh.

Calvin Klein Fall/Winter 2014/15

CKL_1144.450x675

CK really brought out some great color palettes for their coming fall/winter collection. I really was digging this pale blue jacket with a really high sheen that would go great as a layer underneath a top coat of jacket to add some serious pop to a look.

CKL_1298.450x675

Absolutely KILLER bomber brown leather jacket. I would not be mad at all if designers keep re-introducing this leather, it’s both timeless and will make you feel like a WWII fighter pilot.

I think this is a good spot to end part 2. We’ve got a ton left to cover, so be sure to subscribe and check in later!

What We Wear pt. 1

In our first installment of What We Wear, we cover our favorite looks from each of the designer runway shows. Our passion goes beyond cars and motorcycles, and this is one way we are really excited to share with everyone. We are far from professionals, but our knowledge is growing as each day passes. Since the amount of shows has grown to massive numbers, we are making sure to keep it to 1 to 2 looks per show, so you are getting a weeded-through, finely selected view of all Fall/Winter 2014/15 collections.

Lou Dalton F/W 2014/15

ISI_9099.450x675

This first look caught our eye for the wonderful shading of color. Going from a off-white infinity scarf, to the soft cream rain/overcoat, the the brown slacks and ending with the black shoes. We love that this doesn’t come off as intentional, just a wonderful pallet of color.

ISI_9132.450x675

This second look was easily our favorite from this show. VERY nice layering with the cropped bomber over the camouflage jacket. You are going to see a TON of this “reverse” layering from designers and out on the street next fall/winter for sure. The added over-acid washed denim sets this look apart as one many will be trying to reproduce.

Lee Roach F/W 2014/15

_ARC0007.450x675_ARC0201.450x675

Not a ton of noise coming from Lee Roach this coming season, but we did really enjoy the label-less blazers as well as the choice in chocolate/bronze color. Also, a ton of leather, which seems to very much be still in style for next fall/winter.

Richard Nicoll

_ARC0100.450x675

Really digging the deep teal cropped bomber here, but can’t imagine trying to copying this entire look. The strip down the pant leg takes away from the otherwise crisp look here.

Richard James

YVL_3392.450x675

We usually aren’t crazy about windowpane patterns, but this top coat proves you can away with some subtle windowpane without looking like an English chap. Also, you can’t lose with the very classic combination of navy blue and grey. Great fit and look all around.

Gieves & Hawkes Fall/Winter 2014/15

Gieves_Hawkes_012_1366.450x675

Brilliant look above with cropped bomber jacket and thick turtleneck giving “all black everything” a refined appearance that would look great coming off of a classic BMW motorcycle. Anyone else see this?!

Gieves_Hawkes_015_1366.450x675

Aw man, as big fans of all things olive green we could see this entire look in our wardrobe next winter. GREAT fit and texture on the jacket along with the slacks tucked into the burnished brown boot. Lovely details all around.

Gieves_Hawkes_019_1366.450x675

We HAD to fit in this last look from Gieves & Hawkes. Refined badassery is what this screams with, what looks like, suede top coat, deep brown boots and very clean travel bag. The mixtures of black and brown have never looked so good.

Rake Fall/Winter 2014/15

YVL_3848.450x675

Rake taking on the popular trend of coat-on-coat with two db jackets over a denim button shirt. After the extreme cold we experienced this winter in NYC, we wish we would have thought of this earlier!

I think we’ll end part 1 here. As you can see we have a pretty wide range of interest when it comes to clothing, which we think is a good thing!

Hope you enjoyed. More soon…

It’s pretty amazing how quickly the E30 M3 became a classic. Aside from it’s solid racing heritage, and flawless drivability, there is something to be said about it’s undeniable styling. In short, it’s timeless, it’s classic, it’s raw, and it’s beautiful. You can be sure that the E30 M3 is on every car enthusiasts list of “must buy before I die”. Miro didn’t take much time scooping up a extremely clean M and made it his own. Miro and his company JSUTAI are very good at building timeless cars, and this is a perfect example of their flawless work. Perfect fitment, subtle mods, custom BSS  RS’ done at Jsutai and their personal touch with the Jsutai decal down the side. As you know we are all about the clean aesthetic, and this car screams that timeless design we love to see in of builds. Bravo Miro, bravo!

Now for our side note. We shot this back in the fall, and Miro’s M has gone through some changes and will without a doubt be a show stopper this coming show season, but we sure do have a feeling that this stage of the car will never get old to look at.  So Miro, congratulations on your part in automotive history and inspiring plenty of classic builds for years to come. We can’t wait to see what you do next!

If you at all fall in love with this car as we have then give JSUTAI a shout to get your car up to the standards that they use while working on customer cars. Some of the coolest guys on the east coast here willing to change your ride into a unique, rolling neck breaker.
