I am really growing a huge love for classic Japanese cars. No, let me rephrase myself, a huge addiction to classic Japanese cars. This is a problem because most classic Japanese cars never made it the this country. So I am left scouring the internet to find the best of the best, learning all the chassis names and “old school lingo”. Kind of tough when everything is in Japanese, ha. Anyways, one, of the many classic JDM cars that are catching my eye is the first gen. Soarer. Just something about the classic square body lines that lure me in. Mix that with little touches to the body and a perfect, period set of wheels and you have a car I would sell many things for. So dope.

Well, since I sold the GTI it’s time to start looking for a new car. This is the most exciting, yet most stressful time. I really love too many cars to just choose one. I was thinking for a daily, to get something a little pimp. Something I can drop, throw on a set of wheels and be done with it. There is a beautiful E38 sport down the street from me in a unique dark blue, but I am slightly worried about the maintenance costs. I’ve seen plenty with high mileage Bimmers, but it’s always in the back of my head. Any 7-series owners out there with some input?
Pics for clicks.
I know, I’m super late with this, but I totally forgot about the pictures I took from the show. I always make sure I don’t miss this show at the Javit Center, I don’t like giving opinions on motorcycles until I see them in person and sit on them. There were a lot of bikes I like for the 2012 model year. The pricing on these bikes are getting pretty crazy though. Maybe I’m just used to seeing anything that wasn’t Ducati, sticker for under 10 grand back in the day. Now you can’t get any 1000 for under $12k. I really liked the new Honda CBR’s, the styling was spot on and they felt light and nimble. Wasn’t too crazy about the Suzuki’s and Kawasaki’s but the new ZX-10’s redesign was sick. The Yahama R1 of course, for me is still the bike to beat. You just can’t beat the power, sound and looks of that bike. The Ducati 848 is still my favorite. The flat white and black are to die for and at a VERY affordable price point.
Anyways I didn’t take a crap load of pictures cause the place was packed as always. Here are some from the set.
Pretty sick custom BMW turbo.
A sick custom stretched and dropped R1.
A really nice full faring Triumph cafe racer.
Nice to see Aprilia back in the show. Can’t go wrong with this RSV-4.
A track version of the bike I WILL own one day. The KTM RC8.
On to Ducati with the all new 1199. This looks like a beast and a half!
A couple pictures of my favorite motorcycle. I really would have a hard time choosing a color. HA!
Growing up, I always thought that it was known that HRE was THE company when it came to pimp 3-piece wheels. Well at the same time 3-piece wheels weren’t as explosively popular as they are today. I can safely say that HRE has lost it’s flair it once had. I think bringing out a Vintage series was really smart for sales. Props to HRE for consistently producing quality wheels.
This video is pretty dope, showing the entire process of wheel making.
I think 007 is the first thing that comes to mind when most people see these old Lotus’. I personally love the them. There is just something about the sharp edged, yet boxy lines of them. I have a dream of buying one and throwing a LSx swap in it. I think it would be so dope. Some day. I’ve been seeing that they are pretty popular within the old school scene in Japan. Crazy.
It hasn’t really snowed here much in NY since the huge storm in the fall. I kind of miss the snow drifting in the parking lots. Anyways, plenty of places around the world have gotten snow, and tuners have taken plenty of pictures of their rides in it. As many of you know, I absolutely love body drop VW Bus’, so the picture of this patena’d Bus in the snow is right up my alley. Although the salt can destroy a car over time, snow picture can be really cool.
The first thing I thought when I saw the ICON trucks was, why the huge price tag? But after looking into what your actually buying, it actually made sense. The trucks are brand new in every way from the ground up. That takes a TON of research and development. Not to mention your getting the dopest truck in history. Everything is put together as though it came straight from a Toyota factory. They earn my respect for spending a ton of money and time to make something like that happen. That sure is a huge feat. But what I really love is the Derelicts projects. Finding old cars, don’t do a damn thing to the body, but completely restore everything inside. Most people won’t get it, but it really is a form of art. Huge props to the guys at ICON for doing what they love, not what’s popular.
I usually never, ever post music videos. It’s just not something I want to present in this blog. But, I will post it if it has some authentic dope car content. I have liked M.I.A. for a while and thought her newest video was sick. Many people don’t really know about the huge car enthusiast community in the middle east. These guys take reckless driving to another level. haha. Everything you see on this video has been seen in some type of video on youtube. Heck, I wouldn’t doubt that every “stunt” in this video is 100% real. Props to M.I.A. for bringing the car guys out.
It seems like year after year, the Superbowl is becoming more like a holiday then a football game. The supermarket was PACKED yesterday. haha. Anyways before I go and enjoy the game, I thought I’d share this video. I’m sure it’s going to be on every facebook page and forum by the end of the week, but it’s for a reason. This MK2 looks seriously good. Great videography, again, from MKippen. It’s really great to hear that such a beautiful car actually gets driven. Props.
