Ok, that title is slightly ignorant, but I’m sure every F1 fan was extremely happy to see the new LaFerrari with the fairly new KERS system in its newest hypercar. By the way, 2013 really seems to be the year of the Hypercar, with many exotic car company’s coming out with really impressive (but mostly expensive) cars. Maybe I’m getting old, but it sure does seem like the future is here now, the amount of technology and the availability of it is staggering. Innovation is not slowing down the least bit, and its really exciting to live through. Back to the LaFerrari, I seriously can’t wait to see how it actually performs. Its going to be interesting to see just how much faster the KERS system makes it. You know, for a couple of years every hard core car guy hated the thought of hybrid sports cars. But I personally think that in this case, joining a monstrous V12 with a smaller hybrid system is well, cool. The hybrid system hasn’t taken away from the car in any way, so its something that looks promising.
I’m not going to act like I understand half this stuff, but it sure is cool to see and at least, try and understand.
Lets start this year off right with some REAL motorsports content. After all, we get most of our inspiration and aftermarket parts from the race track. It all eventually goes down to the street car level. It’s pretty incredible just how fast these cars are, and just as incredible is the process is takes to get a car that fast. Every little thing is calculated, from the tires and air pressure, to the suspension geometry and load, to the angle of various aerodynamics, to the weight saving, and so on and so fourth. These guys are geniuses and they are all trying to take milliseconds off their laps times just like the Formula 1 guys.
Enjoy a lap with this crazy S15. With all the modification I wonder if you could still call it a S15. Awesome!
I am a true history junkie when it comes to automobiles and motorcycles. I saw this video and felt I had to post it. It really is amazing to see how F1 has evolved over the years. Everything from aerodynamics, to motors, to tires, to body design. I absolutely love seeing these things in action. It is pretty crazy the different kind of design were brought out to make the fastest, best handling and braking race cars.
On the motorsports side, the Malaysia Formula 1 race was really good this weekend. The red bull cars are crazy fast as usual and it seems like Vettel can not be stopped. I can say that it does seem like the other teams are getting most things dialed in. Since the beginning of the 2010 season I really have been rooting for the new Team Lotus (or Lotus Racing) cars, as they are back from a break in F1 racing. You have got to love the Flat black and Gold colors that came from the older F1 Lotus cars. Speaking about Lotus, did any one else see the Petrov Crash? I thought it was pretty crazy to see a F1 car take flight. I mean it caught enough air to break the steering column!
In my opinion, they need to fix that part of the track.
I am posting up this video purely for a look into the real sense of speed for these Formula 1 cars. I mean it almost looks surreal in these video’s. It really shows the amount of skill these drivers have. I mean braking, reaction, turn-in, and so much more must all happen in split seconds. Pretty crazy when you think about it. There really is zero tolerance for error.
