High Speed in Slow Motion

I think I have watched this video a thousand times already. The slow motion is just so sick. I am also trying to study these pro’s as they tuck and lean. Not that it’s going to help me in any way, but it makes me feel like it does. lol Anyways, with Laguna Seca on the MotoGP schedule this weekend, I thought I’d post it.

Enjoy

It’s funny, I posted a picture from this same corner a week or so ago. And like I said in that post, the lean angle simply does not seem possible. So awesome.

80’s Baby!

Keeping with the subject of 80’s Honda’s, the Prelude is another one of my favorites. Please don’t ask me why I love these old Honda’s, it’s just something about them! Ever since my friend Gabe had one a couple years back and we would talk about how we could mod it, it gave me a gain interest in owning one as well. These cars really don’t need much. The OEM lines are so perfect there is no need to mess with them. He had a black BA and we thought back then, a drop on some Mugen M7’s would look perfect. Still think it would be a head turner. When stanceworks did the write up on the one pictured below it brought back all those ideas and love for these 80’s babies.

Just like we had planned, a clean car with a drop on some uber sexy yet simple BBS RS is all the car needs. Eye candy.

Race “look”

Boy do I have a soft soft for 80’s civics. Something about the squared look that gets to me. The EC hatch below, you just don’t see modded anymore in the states. I mean it has to be a great platform for a track car. I know of one or two that are being built now for show, but I’m surprised there aren’t more. I guess the older they get the rarer they get and more work they’ll need. But I think it’s worth it. It’s such a classic look. The one I posted here looks great. With a widebody and a set of the new Work CR01’s it looks ready to be beat on at a track. If I can find those fenders, I’m building one!

Gotta love the classic tire stencil.

Import Alliance 2011

Import Alliance was this past weekend. I was really trying hard to go this year, but it just couldn’t happen just coming back from Miami. I am definitely PLANNING on attending next year. Anyways, as photo’s begin to filter onto the internet I found a pretty good video of a walk around the track. As a lot of you may know this show is huge! And like a lot of other big shows the night life seems to be just as good as the show itself. But more on that in a later post. Until all of the pictures come out, and I pick out the standouts, this video is a pretty good idea of what goes on at the show.

BATMOBILE!!

For some reason turbine powered cars really scared the crap out of me. Something about a huge turbine sitting next to you, which can explode or suck you in at anytime. haha. But this is the first turbined powered Batmobile. And hell, if I had the money I would have one built just like this. I mean its the damn batmobile! Imagine this thing rolling through times square

AMS Alpha 12 R35 GT-R

Yet another record broken. The GT-R is getting more and more astonishing as time goes by. The potential this car seems to have is incredible. AMS built another monster, this time with over 1200hp. Yea you read that correctly, 1200hp. For such a heavy car to run 9.1’s with full street trim doesn’t seem possible. This video proves that it is.

Waterfest 17

Ok, I’ll be the first to say that Waterfest isn’t what it used to be. But with events like Southern Wothersee and H2O it’s becoming hard to compete, which does suck since Waterfest was one of the “original” european car shows. Having said that Waterfest did deliver a great amount of quality cars. We got there a tad late so I might have missed a couple cars, but I tried snapping pics of the nicest I saw.

Walking up to the show area, an unexpected, very nicely modded Honda Fit caught my attention dropped on a set of Rota Grid’s. These 2nd gen. Fit’s are really growing on me.

First was the APR booth with the RS4 Avant(I didn’t think people realized it was an RS4, nobody was looking at it) and a R8 V10 with around 580hp. So sexy!

Flat black Merc was right up Ty’s lane, even though the wrap was pealing in some places.

I thought this motor was very unique in a mark 4 chassis.

A beautiful S5 sitting properly on a set of BBS’

White on white on white on white…

Very nice mk3 Cabrio on air sitting on a classic set of Schmidt wheels. Oh, the R32 powerplant was also a wise addition.

Something completely unexpected, a Ford GT. Something I wanted to point out in this picture. The sticker booth this car was with, was selling fake Illest stickers. Cmon now, stop faking the funk!

Always had a soft spot for these. It’s nice seeing them modded every now and then.

This Audi A8 looked boss sitting on 22’s!

Beautiful Porsche Panamera sitting on a set of ADV.1 wheels.

Thought the black on black was on point with this car. I think the Porsche 3-piece twists are close to the top of my list of favorite wheels.

The europe only S3 was a treat. FINALLY a real set of Volk TE’s.

Depending on how things go, a white MK6 is probably going to be my next car. So beautiful when its slammed on a proper set of wheels.

A couple of nice Audi’s. I was really surprised to see all the B5 RS4 conversions.

I can not explain how perfect this R is! Simple yet SO effective.

Surprisingly one of the few nice MK2’s in attendance.

Two non-dubs that stood out in the show.

Here is one of the other nice MK2’s that came out. Air ride ftw.

I would love to know what this MK5 is running out back. The fitment and camber was perfect. Tons of lip and still tucking.

The infamous flat green S4 wagon now of baller Rotiforms and air ride. Gotta love the color match.

For some reason, this was the car of the show for me. Not many people were checking it out. But this is one of those cars that if you saw it rolling down the street or hardparked, your jaw would drop. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I want a Z4. The rear fitment of those Schmidt’s is lovely.

I’m pretty sure this was the ONLY decent Caddy out. Mucho props.

Ugh, I was trying to catch a picture of this early S4. It was MINT and looked so great on the LM’s. As you can see I wasn’t very successful.

There were a couple other really nice cars out, just couldn’t get my camera out in time to get a decent shot.

That pretty much concludes my coverage. I really hope this show gets to what it used to be in the next couple years.

Dani Pedrosa!!

Aw man, is it great to see my favorite rider back on the grid. After a leave of 3 races Pedrosa has come back and shows he is as good as he has always been. Honestly he surprised me with this weekends win since Stoner and Lorenzo have been unstoppable. So a big congrats to Dani for this win. I wish I could have seen him in Indy, but the trip just wasn’t possible. I’ll try again next year.

Girl Car!

I think we all can admit that when the Miata first came out in the early 90’s, the first thing that came to mind was that it screamed girl car. Today, as many tuners know, the Miata’s popularity has sky rocketed. It seems everyone forgot how much fun people made fun of Miata drivers. I personally, love the car. It’s a perfect little canyon carver and with the addition of the LSx swap it has pretty incredible potential. Now we just have to prove it can look less “girly”. Now I know there are crazy, much more aggressive ways to mod this car, but I like the simplicity of the white NA below. Dropped on some old school SSR’s(?) and you are on your way to enjoying a less girly car. Good luck explaining it to the girlfriend though. lol

Yes I know, the black NA in the background is insane looking, I have more pictures of it if anyone is interested.

NSX Love

While it seems everyone on the east coast is at Import Alliance, I decided to hit up Waterfest. On the way there we saw a really nice NA1 NSX and of course it got me looking through my picture archive and re-ignite my love for the mid engine Jap. The NSX is such a perfect car and I guess Honda thought the same thing keeping the same general look for about 14 years. Now a days these classics are hard to come by, especially the early hard top. Even harder to find is a white example. I haven’t seen much of the one pictured below, so I thought I’d share. As you can see the car doesn’t need much to looks great. A simple drop and period correct Advan’s and you have yourself a timeless automobile.
